Money Won’t Make Them Learn More

Jim Weigand of Lynchburg has an alternative to my data suggesting that spending more money doesn’t improve SOL scores.  Jim averages five subject division pass rates and compares them to the Excess above the  Required Local Effort for the Standards of Quality.  The 2015 RLE data are not posted yet so he uses the 2014 data for both quantities.  His result:

The fitted curve suggests that doubling the local effort raises the average pass rate by 2.7% but the R2 of 3.4% tells that the two variables are essentially uncorrelated.
